Christmas Miracle

It is a Christmas Miracle! We are finally updating our blog. I loved the pictures of me as Wonder Woman and I just wasn't ready to move on. But it is finally time to move on to Christmas. When I was a kid I wanted to collect Nutcrackers and so my parents supported me in this crazy decision. I actually haven't collected any new ones in years, but I loved having Christmas decorations this year. Ben and I are going to start the collection back up, but Ben wants to be a little more discriminating on which ones we collect. Apparently $7 Nutcrackers are no longer good enough for our collection.

Fall Leaves

This weekend Ben and I were in Salt Lake visiting my aunt and she asked us if we would go up to the canyon and collect some leaves for her.  We agreed, but didn't have the best attitude.  We drove up the canyon past Hogle Zoo and it was beautiful.  Surprisingly we had a pretty good time. We just hiked around looking for the most colorful leaves.  Afterwards when we got home I told Ben I wanted to do it again and put a bowl of leaves in our house.  Ben just stared at me and then said "where would you put them?" I thought about it for a while and then realized we don't have the style of house where a bowl of leaves would look very cool.  I guess we will just have to wait until next year and help my aunt out again.

VW Show

Ben and I went to Las Vegas for Conference to visit my sister's family and my dad (my mom was home with the flu). We had a great time with them, but didn't take any pictures. While we were there we went to a vintage VW car show, and don't worry we took plenty of pictures.

A military style Kafer Wagon or "Thing" as it is more commonly known.

These were my favorites. I love fixed up Buses. When I told my dad this he told me he sees them broken down on the side of the road all the time. Isn't he funny?

Kate and Jordan this picture is for you. We wish you could have been there with us.

Ben is Hot!

Ben likes to go mountain biking late at night in the cold. I know, he is intense. He has a light that attaches to his helmet so he won't die. I warn him everytime when he leaves not to die or I will kill him. The other night before he left I made him do a photo shoot of his sweet outfit. Isn't my husband good looking? He looks very manly and outdoorsy (is that a word?).

And yes that is spandex he is wearing under his shorts. Remember we live in Utah and it is cold at night.

Dutch Oven Cook-Off!

On Saturday Ben and I went to a Dutch Oven Cook-Off that some of our friends put on. We will admit that we weren't too excited in the beginning. We wanted to eat the food and take part of the social aspect, but we didn't want to cook in a Dutch Oven. Finally we gave in and we had a great time. We ended up making a Chili Cheese Dip and we won for Best Side Dish. Okay, there were only two side dishes and I threatened people to vote for us, but we still won.
Here is the food cooking

We are anxiously awaiting the food to be done.

The Utah State Fair!

Ben and I went to the Utah State Fair yesterday with his parents.  One of our favorite parts was the cows.  Seriously, there were some nice looking cows, so we had to take a few pictures. This cow is licking the inside of his neighbors ear. This picture is a tribute to Stephanie and Trixie. There were some cool flower displays.  I was going to steal this one, because it would go well in our kitchen. This picture would have been a lot better with three people in it.  We should have asked the irritated little girl waiting for us to jump in.  This sculpture is made of butter.  Someone has a little too much time on their hands.  There was an information poster next to it which said it would take an average person two lifetimes to consume this amount of butter.  My absolute favorite part of the fair was the 4H displays.  Apparently you can turn in almost anything when you are a kid and win a prize.  There was one kid who submitted Lego Indiana Jones riding his motorcycle that won a first prize ribbon.  Since I bought Jackson that exact thing for his birthday I know for a fact that it comes in about 3 pieces and takes about 5 seconds to put together.  Ben is going to enter a melty bead creation similar to this one next year.

We also loved people watching at the fair. We took quite a few pictures of the interesting people we saw, but to keep our blog from being too rude here is just one picture of our favorite person there.

Family Reunion

Ben and I spent last week in Newport with my family for our Family Reunion. We had a great time relaxing and spending time with the fam. On Friday we drove to Ben's sisters house and spent the night with them. We kept forgetting to take pictures except for one day at the beach where we only took pictures of other people. So here are some pictures of cute family members at the beach.

Looking cute with sand in his eyebrow

Being buried is so much fun!
Getting sand in your eyes is not fun
